Before I fork out £300 on VCDS, please could someone help my justify the cost.

 

I understand it helps sort codes etc, but as non mechanical minded person, a local garage always does the work.

 

Would I really benefit from such a cost?

Sorry but in your situation I believe you would be better visiting someone local who has VCDS to make any changes you want doing.

That's the problem, there is no-one in Swindon.

 

I would only use it for 'niceties' instead of necessities. 

Granted, but you do have a good half a dozen owners within say 30 mins or so from you.
