205/55/16 inch winter tyres do these works

Featured Replies

Hello!
I've been thinking of new winter tires for which the size should be. 205/55/16. Is this an appropriate ring size rs fabia 1.9 tdi. Do you have any personal experience with this size.
If so, what has been the rim Off set. I finally found vag steel wheels 16-inch sizes with planned at that size of tires.

Far too big (10%) They're for Octavias. Your speedo will be way off and the car will feel sluggish. I know this from experience, having bought the Polo twin of this with tyres that size on.

Won't physically fit. Look at the wheel arch liner near the fuel filler.

I'd go with the 14 inches tires, 165/70, narrower and higher profile. I get a better grip this way. Looking forward next month for buying a full set of Conti TS 850.

Won't fit over vRS calipers, but the 15" ones do (most of them I think) so considering 195/50 R15 or something like that is a good shout.

 185/55R15 81T :)

I've fitted this size tyre to my fabia and I had to remove the rear arch liners due to it rubbing on the passenger side glad I did remove as the collection of mud and dirt was causing some rust issues, I found a more comfortable ride but once tyres worn I then put the arch liners back on the car but then you have to compensate for the extra 10 mm in size on your speedo. When I put my spare wheel on which is 205 45 16 my car threw a hissy fit and the dash lights lite up then I lost my speedo reading. Best of luck choosing your tyres.

Thanks for the reply, the reason why I asked because 205 55 16 is the overall size and, therefore, the price is lower. in some cases, significantly cheaper. My current winter tires are 195/55/15 size. This 15-inch can be found on the cheap. Well now need to think about what I do have 16-inch rims .... If nothing else come to mind as always they can be slightly modified style like this .....

I've got some and gonna be fitting them soon. Will let you know how I get on.

Spoke to someone who said they had fitted these and they said they only rubbed on full lock.

I've changed my mind. Viking Snow Tech II are pretty much the same with Conti TS800, but half the price. I've ordered them, they should arive today. Let the snow fall !

I’ve put coil overs on my Skoda Fabia 6y2, I did have “14 inch” wheels on the car but was scrapping on my front calliper so I put “16 inch” 205/55/R16 on the car instead and now it drives like s*** Any ideas on what I should do, got MOT next month!

You have the wrong tyres, 205/45-16 is the correct size, not 205/55.

Thank u so much probably gonna chuck the “14” inch back on the car for now and get 16’s new tyres :)
