I would like to know something about my engine 1.4MPI !!!

Featured Replies

Hello people, I have bought a Fabia 2001 1.4MPI 45,500KM from a lady in my neighborhood, I tested my maximum speed it was :thumbdwn: 160 KM/H :thumbdwn: besides it was hardly reaching 160, I just don't know wether If It's a true thing about the engine or what shall I do about it ?? I changed the oil and the filter twice in 2000 KM's. In addition to that I would like to know how to determine If It's 45KW,55KW,...,etc.?? Thanx inadvance.

check under the boot floor or front page of service manual... there should be a sticker with all car details on.

160 km/H ? How did you manage to get upto this speed through Cairo?

Polaris,

The 1.4Mpi is a 55kw block. And I've done 180Kmh on mine.....:D

I agree, the "performance " of the 1.4 Mpi is PATHETIC, almost dangerously slow with a heavy load.......sooooo p*ssed off with ours i want to sell it. :(

its a 1.4 OHV engine, what did you expect?

You Can get it upto 100MPH on a good straight and level road. The Performance Does suffer with only 2 extra persons in the car, but Don't forget the Fabia 1.4MPI Is much heavier than most cars with that size of engine (It's Over 1100KG), the main problem for me is the throttle response, but iv'e won a few races in mine, including a pushbike with a flat tyre, one of my proudest moments that:thumbup:

Actually it was between Cairo and Alexandria, It's considered as a super highway....

I think It's very heavy too, but I was driving single I just thought that the previous owner didn't manage to deal with the gear in a perfect way, I thought that by shifting every shift is to wait before the red zone and complete the shift, all I've got was a struggle to reach 160 from 150. By the way one of my friends before he sold his fabia he had the same specs but the differece was the rims (16") he usually reaches 185 - 190, that's why I liked fabia and went for one :D ......

Yep, if you want maximum performance it needs to be redlined in every gear to get the revs as high as possible for the next gear, because otherwise it gets really bogged down. Don't forget it still outperforms the 1.0, Both 1.2's, 1.4 Auto and the 1.9SDI, so it's not quite at the bottom of the pile!

Ok, what are the type of modifications that could be done on my fabia.... regarding that I live In Cairo sooooo lowering the car will be a nightmare and finding chips will be very hard too, plus I think any carp chip can damage the motor, unless why didn't fabia installed any chips In the car

Air filter/exhaust would probably be the cheapest but don't expect massive gains on a N/A car without spending lots and lots of money. Best bet would be to save up and put it towards your next, faster car :D
