hmmmmmm Smartlink prob?

Featured Replies

so I had my new car delivered and I am very happy.......

However, my smartlink will not work with my iphone 4s. I connect the USB and it says along the lines of "connection failure - mobile device is not supported by appleplay".

brilliant (!)

anyone else had this? I am due an upgrade on my mobile and wondering which phones are ACTUALLY compatible and also thinking if a newer iphone would work.

any ideas ladies and gents????

Hi,

Smartlink is only a gateway to either CarPlay (Apple) or MirrorLink, AndroidAuto (Android).

You are using an iPhone 4S therefore Smartlink tries to interface with Apple's CarPlay, unfortunately CarPlay supports iPhone 5 models and newer... your phone is not supported.  :|

one thing though, what is to say that I get a newer iphone and it still does not work? could I then complain to skoda?

My advice would be get and email confirming that your phone will work with smart link from Skoda then they can't wriggle out of it . Learnt from bitter experience .

Works well with my iPhone 5S, and my son's Nexus 5 via Android Auto, hope it will work for you as well !
