Hi Folks,

I'm a newbie on here. I'm a member on other forums so not new to all this lol.

I'm currently looking after my dads 10 plate Octavia Estate Laurin & Klements while he is away. Just a quick question, everytime i switch off the ignition the MFD displays 'Check Safe Locking' ' Owners Manual', i have looked on the manual but can't find anything.

However i have activated a few features which was originally off, like one touch indicator, cornering lights, coming home/leaving home lights, automatic door locking, and extra information on MFD data.

Oh another question is how do i change the tiny current digital speed reading from km to mph, i tried the stick on the speedo but that did not work?

Thanks, any help appreciated.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I hope that your Dad's not going to be flummoxed/annoyed by all the changes you've wrought on his car when he gets it back.. ;)

I think that you should be able to find out what you need to know about the MPH/KPH Maxidot settings here:

The Safe Locking warning is  -  if I remember correctly - a reminder that when you 'safe-lock'/dead-lock the car (it's set by default I think) it is not possible for it to be opened from within, so don't leave anyone inside as they won't be able to open the doors.

Hope that helps..?

Cheers,

Dave.

Thanks. Looking at the link you sent me looks like it can only be done with the VCDS. Ha ha he has gone for 6 months so he will forget what he had on his car.

With regards to the safe-lock i look further into this, cheers for the info Dave.

I puzzled over the scrolling deadlock message too when I first got the car but soon realised that it is saying that no one can open the doors from the outside unless you either press the door lock button on the centre console or take out the ignition key.

I haven't tried it yet on this car but I expect that if the key is still in the ignition, you could open any door by pulling twice on its handle. Must try it soon.
