2.0 TDI DSG Remap

Featured Replies

Have just had my car back from Jabbasport following a remap: only the second they've done on a DSG-equipped car, the other being an Audi A3. Excellent result; no increase in consumption (or smoke), but, WOW!!!! What an increase in power; ESP lights up far more often at take-off, and mid-range pick-up is like having a shove in the rear! Only one (minor) problem: DSG precludes the use of a rolling road to assess Bhp/Torque figures before and after, as the 'box automatically drops a cog (or two) when the load is applied. No matter; it seems to stand up well, and the difference in "feel" is astonishing. If in any doubt about whether to have it done, I would say "Go for it!"   Jabbasport reckon it now has 175 Bhp and around 285 lbs/ft of torque: Yes, I KNOW that is over the limit, but they carried out extensive testing on the previous car (so they said!!!), and it all works fine. Hope this helps!

Sounds really interesting, can I ask the damage?

on a group buy they are around 400 notes. IIRc there is one going on at the moment.

Sounds well worth the money!

Wonder if the same goes for the 1.9 tdi remap for the 105hp? Haven't come across anyone with it done yet! Its supposed to give some where in the region of 130-140 horses. Love to know what it drives like though.

Are you talking about remapping the 1.9TDi with DSG box or just mapping 1.9TDi?

Regardless of the box 1.9Tdi can be and has been mapped....is this a PD engine or the previous 110 TDi detuned.....either way both will give in the region of 150bhp from Jabba.

no its the manual pd 105 I'm talking about. 150 sounds good!! Any idea what how different it feels to drive.

I'm considering getting a pd 105 but would like a bit extra oomph. I drove the Fabia vRS and its so much fun but a little small inside.

just ask in the Fabia forum for anyone who has had a PD100 remapped as it is essentially the same engine.

Cheers roo

Striker did and it made 128bhp which Mike at Jabba reckoned was due to the new 05 Fabia's injectors not being able to cope! Previous figures for Jason, etc at Jabba were 145-150 (Jabba) bhp :D

Talking of boosting power, does anyone know anything about the new 170bhp 2.0 diesel that was supposed to out last month in the Passat. I

The new Jetta is now available in Ireland with 140 or 170 bhp 2.0TDI engines. I read a review and they said the 170 was a bit of a dog as it was even more peaky than the 140. It was quicker on paper but they couldn't really feel any difference between the 2 cars to drive. Also' date=' the 170 used about 10% more fuel than the 140. They recommended the 140 version in the end.

read a similar report in one of the car mags. I did here a rumour of a vRS with the 170 TDi motor but don't think we will see it with the current DSG box - Torque loading would be too much for it.

Remap sounds good.. I imagine that with the DSG that makes for quite a flying machine.

but do we take it that the 2.0TDI 175hp is honest where as the old pd130 185/190 was "inflated" or does the new lump just not tune up as easily?

Star have done a few 140's now results around 185bhp and 285ft/lbs. See their website.

The PD105 in the newer cars has a smaller clutch, so care needs to be taken when mapping... Richard @ Forge say theres lots of potential in the engine, but when you start gettin to 145bhp.. you will start to have clutch issues.

The 2.0TDI will get to around 200bhp with a manual box, they have to limit with DSG due to the torque.

My Dad had his VW 2.0TDI DSG done by Celtic Tuning a few weeks ago. Got it to about 180bhp & 300 lb/ft (all for £350 !!!!). Overall he say's it makes a difference but isn't as noticable as it is on manual remapped cars he's driven.

185/190bhp is more than obtainable, and in no way inflated, on the 1.9 TDI 130, I think the max is around 230bhp with an upgrade Turbo

I'm not surprised TBH. The DSG probably has some sort of automatic torque restricting system to prevent you putting too much power through it in any particular gear. It would make sense given the reported possibility of it eating itself if you increase the power too much.
