New turbo. Noisy when you accelerate.

Featured Replies

Just had a new turbo fitted by a friend

We got a garage to remanufacture our old one.

When they were redoing it we asked them to fit uprated bearings.

Its all in now.

Under normal acceleration you can't hear it but anything over half throttle you can really hear the turbo spinning up.

There's not a police siren sound but a steady spinning up sound.

We also did the elephant mod.

Is that Normal?

Cheers

An obvious one which you may have already checked would be boost leaks. Although if I'm honest if you'd heard a boost leak before you could probably rule this out by the sound without even checking anything.

Is the turbo making a whizzing noise?

It seems to make the noise that you can make when sucking air through a pen lid.

(School was very boring)

Done some quick checks and it looks OK.

There is a wizzing sound now I've driven it again

Can't seem to get that link to work atm.

However, whilst standing in a asda car park at 9pm last night waiting for someone I took off all the boost pipes on top.

When he had put them back in there was a load of rubber left between the seals.

This seems to have got rid of the wiz zing sound.

Now just sounds like the normal hissing sound but louder so need to check out the bottom pipe.

Does it even if your standing still and just Rev the engine.
