Basically,as the title really.

Have tapping noise when the engine is cold(04vrs), at first I thought it was noisey tappets, but it goes away when the engine warms up.

It also only seems to appear when I press the accelerator, nothing really on tickover. The speed increases the harder you press the pedal.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a noisy lifter/tappet,as the oil heats up and gets thinner it then fills the lifter and stops the tapping sound.

I agree with coskev. A worn cam would do it all the time.

Do you do lots of shortish journeys by any chance?

That I do, less than 10 miles each way. Is there a way to 'cure' it?

No i haven't,  I've seen that post but that is a little on the advanced side of my knowledge base at the minute, i was gonna ask Hutchy to do it for me next time i was in the NE

For what it's worth I'd say tappets as well.

Go for a nice long drive if you can. Check the next day to see if it's quieter. Dout it will cure it but should quietn it down for a day or two.

With my old fabia if I did short runs and the oil would get up to temperature it would tap. Go for a long drive and when warm spank it a bit
