Current Octavia Mk2 Owner thinking of change

Featured Replies

Hi, I have been a dormant member for a few years, but was struggling to log-in, so created new account.

I have and love my 07 Octavia 2.0 FSI L&K.

I am considering the new Octavia L&K and have a question about the engines. A Skoda salesman considers that there is hardly any performance difference in the 1.4 and 1.8 TSI DSG engines and whether to have diesel or petrol is purely a personal decision. I do about 8k a year, but like the power and smoothness of my current engine. The main reason I want to change, is to make it easier for my wife to drive, using the DSG.

Either engine will feel gruntier than the NA 2.0 as they have more torque over a wider rev range.

I'd go with petrol because I like to occasionally use the wider powerband.  I also like the smoothness from idle upwards.

I'm not a fan of the DSG7 (not reliable) but if you haven't a choice then what can you do?

Can't they get you a test drive of both?

Thanks for your help. I'll find a more helpful dealer
