Featured Replies

Just wondering is following noise normal manual VRs.i put gear to neutral and left door open.when engine is off and i put clutch-pedal down and quickly release that up there is no sound, but when you put engine on and try same, there can always hear one knocking sound motor when clutch is up..is this normal sound to engine

Yes, its the sound of the clutch plates coming together whilst in motion wouls suggest its nothing to worry about....both my 150 TDI Octavia and Golf GTD do this...can even notice on the move if you are a little unsympathetic on lifting the clutch following a change.

But why the sound come only when engine is running, not when its off..

Because the clutch plates and flywheel arent spinning when the engine isnt running.

I honestly think you are looking for an issue where there isnt one....ive had many VAG vehicles over the years, theyve all done it to some degree and the only car Ive ended up with clutch problems with was a mk5 Golf and that was for clutch slip (a known issue). Rest assured unless the noise is very loud an constant when the clutch plates are engaged you are fine...if its making alot of noise whilst running then you could have a failing clutch/DMF.

+1, most cars do it. Honda's of old were very noisy with this.
