That part number is listed as a Magneton 70A alternator.

The rating of the alternator fitted to your car off the production line is described by a 3 figure optional equipment code on the vehicle data sticker (inside of Service Schedule booklet and on boot floor). The relevant codes for alternators ratings are:

8GD - 90A

8GL - 120A

8GM - 70A

8GR - 150A

OK, i've been outside, removed the under engine splash guard....and LO....its a

90amper..... part no. 037 903 025M.

I would like to point out, the original part number i mentioned was given to me by a skoda dealer, not the first time i've been given cr*p information by them either. :(
