Latest Skoda Citigo SE L 75 (sept 015) the PID has Male voice only, I have tried the Garmin Website & helpline only funny type voices available for download from garmin & no other advice, can anyone tell me how to obtain a simple English female voice,? I would be very grateful any help with this.

Colin - are you sure? They may have changed it, of course, but I have the newer type of Garmin PID (Feb 15) and it came with a male voice. I fiddled with the settings and changed it to a more soothing female voice. I think you had to get the initial sat nav screen up and then go to options. I also tried to stop it automatically connecting to my phone for updates, as I was worried it would use all my credit. Good luck and glad you are enjoying the new car.

Garmin dropped the female voice from the PID in some update in 2014 and since it haven't been available any more, and not selectable in the settings. You have to find a correct voice file and copy it to folder called Navigon/Sounds (yes, there is a folder called Navigon in Garmin unit). I have done this and now have the option to select female voice as well. Mine is Finnish so no use for you though, but you may ask the file for some one who have early Garmin unit and not have updated it (eng-GBR_Susan_sound.nfs). The file is much smaller than male voice file, and reason is, it cannot announce street names.

 

There is a English up! forum (up! owners club) which may be helpfull if you search there and ask for the file.

Thank you Falbandy for your input. May I also thank eelis from Finland I do think this is the way forward eelis as you say there is only a male voice, I may find this a little complicated but have a friend who is good with computers, and thanks again to both of you for taking the time to reply to me.

You are welcome, Colin - sorry I wasn't more help! Makes me wonder when my PID was manufactured. Glad you are liking the updates on your new Citigo. I would like the double window switch you mentioned in another thread too. What colour is it and does your new one sound quieter? 

Hi fabandy, the engine does seem quieter on the new car, but no significant difference in road noise,I understand rear arch liners give good improvement also inside boot carpet on arches My earlier model was red which I liked, this one is silver which friends say looks classier & gives the appearance of being larger.It would be nice to have your opinion on your car,are you pleased with it & what colour is it.

Hi Colin. Thanks for the feedback. I find the engine and gearbox quieter on my parents' car 0415 - that one is metallic green and looks good. Mine is 0115 (don't know exactly when built) and is metallic blue. Both cars drive very well and economy is great. I find the seat more comfortable than most cars I have tried/owned. I like the PID and mine has the sunroof. I like red too but I agree -  silver definitely looks 'classy'! I also like the newly available tungsten silver. I am sure you will enjoy your new car and if you take any pics do tell me! Best wishes, Andy.
