No 'miles to service' after oil change

Featured Replies

Not sure if I'm being impatient, but...

1st Variable oil and filter change last week.  Have driven the car 400 miles or so since then, and my change oil indicators are showing ---- / ---- (through the settings / service / info on dash).

Is this something the garage haven't done, or is it having a think about my driving before it decides how many miles until the oil will need changing again?

On variable servicing it takes a while before it displays the distance / time again. I would imagine it will show up soon.

It decided to turn up today - thanks!

Just out of interest how many miles did you get before your first variable service and how much did it set you back? Cheers.

I've not owned it since new, it was an ex demo, and the first oil change was at 13,500 (lots of cold starts and short trips I would imagine).  Its now showing a healthier 18,500 until the next oil change which is what I was hoping for as I sit on the motorway alot.

I used Blade in Weston Super Mare, it was £181 with VAT.  Apparently it pays to shop around the dealers but this was convenient for work for me.  The oil is dead expensive apparently.

They've not quoted for the inspection service yet, but I'm guessing somewhere nearer the £250 mark.  5000 until that ones due.

I'm looking forward to it being off warranty so I can just do it myself...

The Oil is only Dead Expensive if they charge too much for it,

it is just the correct oil for the engine, 5w 30 (VW 504 00 Long Life oil for Variable servicing,

'not supposed to be the goose that lays the Golden Egg'.

What oil went in at this service and how much was it a litre on the Invoice?

Is there any reason for the Service costing £181 and not the usual 'Minor Service' cost of

£140-£150 ish, even with Long Life oil being used?

When putting in VW 504 00 it is not £30+ more expensive than the VW 502 00 that can be used with Fixed Servicing.

I see thanks. I'm thinking I'm gonna use my local indy for its servicing. They do a good job and should be a bit cheaper.
