MK1 Skoda Octavia Estate 4x4 1.8T Project.

Featured Replies

Hi. I have recently purchased a very tidy 2001 1.8T 4x4 Octy Estate with 95000 miles on it. It is going to be an ongoing project, the aim is 350-400bhp and looking fairly standard apart from wheels and suspension.

I have managed to get hold of a damaged 2003 Audi TT 225 with a BAM engine which I will be using the mechanicals out of, engine, 6 speed box, rear diff and as far as I am aware some on the suspension components from this will come in handy also.

As far as I am aware to see the power outputs I am looking for I will need

larger air intake and maf housing - what size and where is the best place to purchase??

turbocharger - will be a garret unit but could do with some help as to which model and best place to buy??

manifold and exhaust - I understand this will need to be a custom job ..... any recommendations??

FMIC - ideas and suppliers??

Higher output injectors - ??

Higher rated fuel pressure sensor??

Will the BAM engine handle this power without changing internals??

I think that is it but please correct me if it isn't and I will add it to the list.

Suspension wise, it will get the following

KW V3S allround

adjutable tie rods at the rear - suppliers?

wishbones from the TT

R32 anti roll bars

anything else people would recommend?

Brakes. I am looking at ideas, B7 RS4 upfront maybe?? Are leon Cupra R brakes up to scratch for 350-400bhp??

Thanks in advance for any help. Chayten

I have managed to get hold of a damaged 2003 Audi TT 225 with a BAM engine which I will be using the mechanicals out of, engine, 6 speed box if going 6 speed you need clutch, flywheel, starter, driveshafts, gear linkage and all or front half of prop from the 225, rear diff (Octavia 4x4 rear diff will be fine) and as far as I am aware some on the suspension components from this will come in handy also.

As far as I am aware to see the power outputs I am looking for I will need

larger air intake and maf housing - what size and where is the best place to purchase?? 3" MAF will be on the 225 TT already

turbocharger - will be a garret unit but could do with some help as to which model and best place to buy??

manifold and exhaust - I understand this will need to be a custom job ..... any recommendations??

FMIC - ideas and suppliers?? welly cooler and custom pipes

Higher output injectors - ?? 550cc minimum at a guess, I'm on 630cc siemens deka

Higher rated fuel pressure sensor??

Will the BAM engine handle this power without changing internals?? No, rods as a minimum need uprating

I think that is it but please correct me if it isn't and I will add it to the list.

Suspension wise, it will get the following

KW V3S allround

adjutable tie rods at the rear - suppliers? compbrake stainless or Forge (expensive)

wishbones from the TT

R32 anti roll bars rear will need boot floor modding if same as hatch

anything else people would recommend?

Brakes. I am looking at ideas, B7 RS4 upfront maybe?? Are leon Cupra R brakes up to scratch for 350-400bhp?? cupra r brembo more than up to the job

  • 2 weeks later...

you can use the cast arms and subframe off an LCR on the front end instead of the TT, as they already hav emuch better bushes as standard
