Dell Axim X50

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if this is the same size as the Axim X5?

If so, that's great. If not, any ideas on where to get a GPS kit for it?

I think the dimensions must be on the Dell site.

I think it's about the same width, slightly taller, but a bit slimmer. The X5 is a bit of a fatty imho (I use it for my satnav)

Does yours not have bluetooth? BT does have the advantage of no wires and that you can use the sat nav more flexibly (although battery life goes down a bit)

have had both over the last year, and the X50 is more square(ish) than the X5 and a bit lighter to carry. Comes with a much slimmer carry case too.

The X50v I use has bluetooth, and wireless on board. The X5 had no bluetooth and needed a CF card to do wireless (an optional extra).

In terms of overall dimensions they are very similar, although the X50v is slimmer.

the X50 cabn get very fat if you add the extra big battery which sticks out horribly at the back.

If considering one, get the X50v in my opinion, as more functionality.

Where i work we use these also, for Sat Nav (TomTom), and the X5 seemed less prone to GPS connection problems. Otherwise both very reliable machines.

For anyone using TomTom, we have found that the Tomtom car cradle is problematic and have changed to seidio or other cradles.

Hope this helps?

It's not for me; a colleague already has the X50 and I'm looking for a kit to GPSize it. I'll have a look at the Dell website.

Thanks.
