Does anyone know where is located the GPS antenna in the O2 Estate?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know for sure but it is in the base of the radio antenna on the saloon

John

It is in the base on the aerial.

First of all thaks again for the replays. Now the silly question. If I want to install a MFD2, is the wiring all done for the GPS antenna or I need to instal another antenna in other part of the car? Does anyone tried it and install it?

Anyone know how this would be different for a Satnav unit????

Right. You will need the GPS antenna replacement if the car does not have it already (they are not built with it as std unless ordered with the sat nav),it is a simple direct replacement for the std one, but with the gps bit on the front. You will also need the data cable for it as well. these will just connect up to the back of the unit. should not be too difficult and probably take an hour or so.

same thing. GPS/sat nav are exactly the same. GPS (Global Positioning Sattelite) is where the navigation unit gets the position signal from so it can tell you the way to go.

MFD2 is the name of the official Skoda unit.

Thanks again for the quick Re:, roo. Now another question: I've seen in several places that the official name for the Skoda unit is MFD2. I also saw in eBay several units with this designation but most of then are VW Mfd2 (I believe they are the same) for Golf V. In Skoda catalog the unit is named Nexus, and the part number is diferent for the Skoda and Golf Mfd2 units. Now the thing is: are they really the same unit? Does it really fit as plug'n play type in the O2? How can I be sure of it?

Anyone?...

Thanks

Jet

I think there are some Fabia owners with the previous version of the VW branded sat nav in their cars with no problem.

If you are not too sure, why not get a non skoda version like the Pioneer Avic X-1?

VW MFD2 from golf V will fit in the octy II

Your car will NOT have the GPS aerial as standard unless your order with sat-nav.

You don't have to have an external aerial you can just have a dash mounted one out of site at the corner of the screen if replacing radio with the sat-nav unit.

Try www.satnavsystems.com all equipment needed here. Getting the VW unit might be the best bet if you want it cheaper, if you want OEM a little bit more will get you skoda mfd2.
