HIDS & Rubber Light Cover

Featured Replies

Forget the correct terminology for the cover that goes on the back of the lights, however how do people bypass this when fitting HIDs as the loom needs to go into the engine bay?

I got a Stanley blade and slit a X in it

I got a craft knife and cut round a 10p coin fits tight around the rubber grommet

Its called a 'rubber boot' i think.

I went round a 10p too.

And then bought some spares from the dealers for about £7 each.

Cheers folks :)

Best place to get H7 10k? Or is 8k the most I can go up too?

The colour?

I wouldnt go 8k. Thats boy racer tacky blue.

4300k will give you the most visible light output and look OEM Xenon. Maybe 5k if you want a hint of blue.

Got 4300k in mine and the light output is fantastic

5k in mine

if you drive a Saxo or similar car than 10-12k is must the more blue/purple the bigger your gentlemen sausage is and it adds at least 10-20 bhp if its really purple

Ah okay, think I will stick to the 4300K as i've got white DRL's might work better :)

thanks folks will update once all done :)

Next question, dipped beams?

How come? what's a real difference?

How come? what's a real difference?

Takes longer to warm up, dont provide much extra light imo and burners burn out faster.

Just no need for em really. Your eyes adjust to any extra light anyway tbf.

Worth noting that 55w ones are a colour lower than 35w anyway. So a 55w 5000k is more like a 35w 4300k.

I found the 55w didn't last as long, and I couldn't see much difference in the light output. The 35w are bright enough and once you reach a certain level your eyes can't really take more in if that makes sense. I like the 35w in my car, I went for the 6k but as soon as SWMBO turns her back I'm changing them to either 5 or 4300k

Mine are 35w and I find them to be exceptionally bright
