AP Coilovers

Featured Replies

Here goes my attempt of reviewing these, finally got the fronts fitted today as I fitted the rears after work in the week. The H&R antiroll bar on the rear makes it a nightmare as it doesn't like sitting in place.

Since I've had the car ( Fabia Monte Carlo TDI ) I've fitted the RARB and then 40mm lowering springs found the ride good but just seemed to be missing something and felt crashy on the roads around where I live.

So I decided to get APs no reviews from anyone on here, first thoughts are the ride for coilovers in incredible, isn't crashy or harsh. It's obviously not a luxury car but it's more than bearable.

Adjustment available is great. I started by winding them all the way down and then counting turns up, front is 10 turns up and rear 6 turns. In inchs I'd say front has 1.5/2 inches to go and rear between 1/1.5 left. Il try upload pictures tomorrow as I didn't take any today but leaving the car settle properly before more adjusting.

Handling wise the car now actually feels really good and exactly what I wanted. After turning the XDS to full I've never really pushed it but today I had abit of fun on some empty roundabouts and can confirm its really good and better than just lowering springs.

I know people go for FK to go low but I'm happy with height as it is and have a lot left to go down too, for £370 from DPM Performance you really can't go wrong.

If anyone else has any questions feel free to ask away and I hope this helps other people make their choice as I didn't have these reviews when I was looking.

Thanks for reading

I never even knew that a Fabia Monte Carlo had XDS.

I never even knew that a Fabia Monte Carlo had XDS.

I could be getting it wrong but when I went on VCDS I had the option to adjust it, feels like it's working too. Looked at the spec sheet when I was buying and it said it, il have to try and confirm it. Sounded odd to me too when I seen it.

Just read the brouchure online, I did pick the option of ESC+ when I ordered it, not sure if it comes in this pack ? When cars in the air if you spin the front wheels they spin together same as a lsd would do. Always thought it had a electronic differential.

Until ESP or ESC 'Electronic Stability Control' was Standard on Fabias it was an Option'.

No idea about ESC+.

Someone will know hopefully.

I did not think you have XDS.  'Electronic Diff Lock',

but you might well have, never had anything to do with Monte Carlos.

?

Do you have a 'TC' Button on the car which you can have On or Off?

You may be right, got me baffled now il have to look into it more, yes have a traction control button on the dash. Feels like it has a XDS, but not sure. Surely it will be on the options code list in the boot. Il have a look, sounding stupid now salesman bragged about it and even I looked at him stupid but it does feel better on bends since adjusting. Unless it's all mental.

Il look into it and post up what I find.

Just had a read of the owners manual, I know when I ordered the car I chose ESC+ as it had TPM and Hill start assist.

Quite a number of systems included in ESC didn't even realise.

Any pics yet mate?

EDIT :-

Just seen on your other post.

How much lower do you think it could go?

Glad you can see the pictures should have posted them on here too, totally forgot will do it tomorrow, well got 9 threads left on the front and 4 on the rear so over a inch on the rear and about 2 maybe on the front but at the moment for me it's brilliant, handles really well and is usable around where I live. Maybe il go abit lower :) not much though.
