2013 Citigo SE gearbox woes - 1st & 2nd gearchange

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I noticed recently that my Citigo's gear change had become problematic. Not long after it's been serviced too.

Anyway, the problem is selecting 1st and 2nd gear. It's extremely stiff to select and often selecting 1st makes a strange squeaking / high pitch rubbing noise (?). Also selecting 2nd seemed quite stiff. I also noticed on a few occasions a small oil patch on the drive underneath where I had parked it. I'm wondering whether it has a sealed gear box and oil has leaked (making selection stiff), or whether there is something else wrong.

I contacted two skoda dealers given the car is still under warranty. However, this was one of the most irritating things I had to do. Neither would take a look or show any interest and just said I need to ring skoda assist - as I explained to them numerous times over, the car hadn't broken down. It still drives , but there are problems with gear selection...

So, happy for any thoughts, or suggestions. Also like to hear if anyone else has experienced similar issues?

Thanks

I should try to find a Skoda dealer or Skoda Approved Service Agent who is prepared to accept that there may be a problem. They do get paid by Skoda so if they're not interested perhaps Skoda Customer Services need to be informed?

Why don't you just try calling skoda assist?

From what I can remember they can do repairs and warranty work and as they are a bit more independent you may get somewhere. For the sake of a 5 minute phone call I'd try it. You have nothing to lose.
