Carbon build up

Featured Replies

Hi just seen a video explaining carbon build up on direct injection engines. I have a 1.4 tsi Octavia which is currently at the dealers having a new chain and tensioner fitted but that's another story. Has anyone had any problems with carbon build up on the valves on the tsi engines. Given its a direct injection engine.

How did you decoke it

Google tsi decoke and there are a few YouTube videos that show the procedure.

I have some carbon on the inlets but give the inlet a chemical flush before each service (every 9 months).  It doesn't remove all the gunk but helps.

I also started running a catch can which needs emptying every 1500-2000km.  I can only assume this is helping as it's no longer putting oily water into the inlet manifold.
