Parking Sensor, Constant Tone?

Featured Replies

Hi all, sorry to be cheeky but I need some advice.

I was driving home from work tonight, nothing strange, went to reverse into my space and instead of the normal beep followed by silence then beeping as I approach an obstacle I have a rather annoying constant tone.

Would I be right in thinking either one of the sensors is shagged or the speaker itself is duff (where ever that is).

If that is the case, what is the best way of tackling the issue of testing them, obviously I cant look now but I can tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.

Martyn

Could be water in one of the sensors.

I'm hoping not, poxy welsh weather.

May steal some contact cleaner form work and give them all a spritz, thanks for the speedy reply.

Occasional happens with my car.  Always after rain.  Never bothered doing anything about it as they usually work OK the next time I reverse.

Happened to mine after heavy rain. It clears itself

No need for any other action

Well that's a great tip Mike, I'll be sure to remember that.

As the other boys have said, thasnkfully a little bit of sun has come out to play and the sensors appear to be working now. Thinking some moisture repellent spray might do the job in future.

Thanks gentleman.

To prevent it happening you need to remove the sensor. Clean the water out of the connections and then apply a contact grease (Silicone grease) into the female side of the connection to prevent water ingress.

Mine does this too!

The parking sensors are poop!!!

Spoke to a skoda tech a few months back and it's common for the sensors to constantly bleep in the rain.

I think they pick up the rain drop on the sensor.

I simply don't trust mine if it's raining.

I suspect that too

They don't do this on our DS4...front or back ones

Maybe they've changed on later models (09 on) Mike

They we always getting water in on my Octavia

The reverse sensors on my FL Octy go haywire in the rain too, been thinking of taking it back under warranty but whenever I think about phoning them they work ok so haven't bothered.

My Octavia mk2 2012, vRS did this all the time in the rain and as I had front and rear sensors it was always a different one each time on the screen but drove me nutty. Some suffer while others have no issues but it seems water just gets in around them.

My Golf has front and rear and is perfect in comparison to the Octavia but the parts are all probably the same being VAG.

I used to wipe off the offending sensor and it would clear most times.
