You thinking replacing the DRL lights with an LED one ? I would be interested as i have ordered the SE Bus.

yes, or Xenon. I have an SE Bus coming too.

Are the rear indicator bulbs located in their own separate holder as I want to use this type of resistor:

Obviously I cannot do this if both the indicator and reversing light bulbs are in one holder, this type (this is a Fabia one):

I found anything but CREE LED's to look good but actually not much better than std, whereas the CREE's are 'kin bright.

Thanks M. I fitted the 80W CREE indicator LEDs today and now I'm happy.

Yes, they are each in a separate holder. A doddle to replace, it took me less than 5 minutes to replace both sides. No need to use resistors if they're CanBus compliant. Both the crappy indicator LEDs (from Phoenix) and the CREEs (from Horizon) worked perfectly with no error/fault, as did the reversing light LEDs.

Looking at the resistors in your photo, I can't envisage how you could get them to fit. The whole lamp unit sits pretty flush with the bodywork.

A is the reversing light bulb holder, B is the indicator bulb holder. The manual recommends disconnecting the cable at C, but I managed without the need to do so.

Thanks, I should have RTFM!  :D

I actually fitted them about an hour after the car was delivered (and before it was driven)

I will let you guess which is the LED... not a HUGE difference, but certainly enough to make me glad I changed them, even better that they were plug and play and no resistors needed

These are what I fitted:

Philips-Xtreme-Vision-PY21W-Amber_620_62

(despite what the box says the above photo is not of PY21W’s... as there are two terminals on the base in the photo rather than the required one)

At the bottom of the box picture it says 'Off-road use only*'. In the strictest sence does this mean they are not legal to use on roads? e.g. possible reason for police stop or MOT failure?

The one thing I find with my LED bulbs are NOT bright enough to match the light out out of the cree side lights and xenons

Yes I'd guess so. Technically the police could pull you for it and I assume it would fail an MOT. More importantly though is why they aren't road legal, I assume they will/could distract other drivers.

The reason for this is they will not be E (or CE) marked.... I am not aware of any LED's that are.

So yes technically they could fail the MOT, however providing the colour is correct and they are not too bright (these are not) then I cannot see anyone paying them a second glance.

The ones I pictured are slightly brighter and certainly more orange than the OE filament bulbs.

Yes, they are unlawful under the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, in that every bulb is required to have an approval mark.

LED lights that replace incandescent/filament bulbs cannot get the required approval mark because they are not considered like-for-like components.

Some have an SAE approval but that's US specific.

Will you get pulled by the police because of this? Extremely unlikely. Those that know me personally will know I speak from first hand knowledge. If a light looks like what it's supposed to be, works, and doesn't cause undue dazzle/nuisance, then that's the only real concern. All Traffic Officers receive an authority, after completing their traffic law course, that allows them to test any vehicle for brakes, steering and lights, but only a zealot is going to start taking lights apart to look for approval marks (and then only by an authorised vehicle examiner, as opposed to authorised tester). It's a sad reflection of the times that Traffic Officers have become rarer than rocking horse dung, being the first department to get hit with cutbacks since John Major’s days when it was thought they could be cheaply replaced with technology (aka cameras). If anyone has been stopped for this, please PM me your lottery numbers, because the odds of being pulled for having LED lights instead of filament are probably much higher than those for winning the lottery jackpot.

Will it fail an MOT? Again, highly unlikely. The strictest test is for headlamps, where beam alignment and intensity are tested. In the case of indicators it’s if they're clearly visible to the front/rear and amber. As there's no colour chart to work from, "amber" is purely subjective.

Not really an issue with the Superb III as it has ’kin large LED indicators at the front that are also the DRL. Only the rear indicator is not LED.

Yea it's a bit of a issue with the oct 2 as the side light and indicator are in the same part of light :)

Having been sat behind an older M class at a junction which appeared to have retrofit LED indicators, can't say I'm a fan - lights on M class are right at eye height and were blindingly bright

Just ordered the LED 382 Canbus 27 SMD indicator bulbs & Reverse bulbs from Phoenix. The accessories are piling up!!!

Thanks, I should have RTFM!  :D

These are bound to be good, they are made by Philips.

They are also specifically designed to utilise the existing reflectors around the bulb for optimum light output.

Thanks for the video, these are the first LED bulbs I've seen that are actually brighter than the standard filament bulbs without being overly bright.
