Diesel smell

Featured Replies

SWMABO has commented a couple of times recently of a smell of diesel at the front of the car.

Dewi has been taken into Sinclair's this afternoon for his 99500 mile service and I got taken into the workshop to be shown a slight but noticeable diesel leak from the area around the injector on the off-side side of the engine. It looks like the sealing washer below the injector is at fault and they were not happy with me driving the cart, so I drove home in a new 1.4 diesel Fabia.

Hopefully they will get a new injector seal tomorrow and fit it, and then I can go back and collect Dewi. Looks like it will be an hours labour plus the parts, which Simeon says aren't expensive.

Driving the Fabia makes you realise how damned good the Yeti is. The Fabia is not as comfortable to sit in, the handling is not as good, it is noisier, and most surprisingly it used more diesel than Dewi to get home!

If anyone else notices a smell of diesel, look in this area.

Ok Ive had 2002 Toyata,  Hilux, 525000 Km now props and Landy Disco, 595000 KM.

Plus my new "Snowman" yeti now getting to close 100.,0000 KM,

am comfortable. All have been Fuel Efficient. 600 km? PER BANK< Fuel There-re must be a leak ,in Fuel Line, or injectors & or  Pump are "Stuffed" .

Other than that "DONT, KNOW or if it's the electonics

Service May Fix.

Hope you get problem fixed

Geoff.

P.S get service report, and then be decided +cost+ fixes problem, or check NEW.

Re the temporary car - I bought a Fabia and only had it a few months before I went back and swapped it for the Yeti. I've gone from bone rattling and bumpy to silky and smooth
