Updating Amundsen with Sound System

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to upgrade/replace my Amundsen (RDS310) with an Android system.

My Superb 2 has the OEM Skoda Sound System.

Does anybody have experience with replacing the OEM radio with an aftermerket radio and the Sound System? Will the Sound System function (correctly), or am I out of luck getting it to work with an aftermarket device?

Thanks!

Sound system will work fine with required head unit adaptor. ie connection to speakers / power / aerial etc.

What you may struggle with is true integration - ie wheel mounted controls working or dashboard display of content being played etc.

Also reversing display if fitted. Any other display stuff - My OEM is integrated into the cliamtronic also.

I'm no expert in this at all, but all questions that need answering for your install.

I've recently fitted an Ownice C200 Android stereo in my car, and in my thread (which is ongoing) you can read about the ups and downs I've had.

Short story: for less than half the amount one would have to spend on a Columbus plus an OEM rear view camera, one can have an Android stereo with navigation, rear view camera, Spotify (no need for bluetooth-streaming) and loads of other functions. The question is how much time you're willing to spend on getting it just right. (Seems like upgrading to a Columbus requires som VCDS-coding to be done anyway, so.)

I can reply to this. The stereo I've fitted (Ownice C200 Android stereo. Probably works just as well with any Android stereo) is fully integrated.

It shows climatronic, moving guide lines when reversing (with any camera), PDC, doors that are open, and probably more. It also talks back to the Maxidot, but I haven't seen this done more than showing radio frequency (no navigation and such).

It also works with steering wheel controls.
