Steering wheel swap...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Will the steering wheel from an 06 Octavia VRS fit my 05 Octavia II Classic? Neither are the multifunction type. Also, will the airbag in the new wheel need to be reset or anything? I'm hoping it's a straight swap as my current steering wheel (basic/standard type) is looking a bit worn.

Cheers!

if the airbag is the same shape then it’s a straight swap nothing needs to be reset... BUT disconnect the battery 1st and connect it back up last once the wheel has been swapped.

I'd be using the airbag that is already fitted to the new wheel (slightly different shape). Is resetting the airbag difficult?

The new wheel will be like this one (image copied from another users post on here).

The current wheel I'm using is this shape (not my car or pic):

Battery disconection is not neccesary, ifcar is in OK condition, all airbags are ruled by airbag main unit and without impact signal is no aibag ignition signal...

That is pure crazyness. If doing any electrical work on a car unplug the battery
