How to remove the glove box with airbag key?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've heard that there is a grommet, between the engine bay and the interior of the car, which can be used to run a sub power cable.  I've seen instructions on how to remove the glove box, but they mention taking care if there is an airbag key switch, although they include no details of how/why.

Can anyone suggest what process I will need to use to ensure I don't come a cropper when removing the glove box please (with pics if possible)?

Thanks

Chris

Legend, thanks for the detailed advice fella. Will give it a go this weekend. :)

Just so you know you wont see the gromit with the glove box removed but it gives you more access to feed it through.

You do how ever need to remove the battery then you can access it from there. Push the cable through onto the cabin and feed it through into the footwell

There is plenty of room though. I have 4 runs of 0awg (50mm2) cable running through it

In the event of accidentally unplugging the airbag it can be reset/cleared by using VCDS.

Cool, thanks. I've got the battery out, but can't see the grommet. Any further info on where I should be looking? High? Low? Left? Right? ;)

there is already a cable going through it. The Grommet is huge mate, about 2"x3" at least.

With the battery out, looking directly at the firewall its slightly to the right of the battery
