The blue "engine cold light". Now i know...

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I dont know if its just me? probably is?

i was wondering the entire time i had my MFD display what temperature the coolant is when the little blue light goes off..

Well ive upgraded to the maxidot display now, so i can say that the light goes off when the temp needle just starts to lift off cold on the maxidot needle.

So really.. the coolant is nowhere near up to temperature, as expected.

One more thing.. what does your oil temps get up to? cruising at 70-80mph mine was reaching 104 degrees.. usually around the early 90's or late 80's under steady driving. Does that sound about right?

I know what engine you have, but others might have to guess.

No idea what is normal for your type of engine.

What oil is in it?

sorry George, youre absolutely right.

its a 1.2HTP 70 2013 model :)

its on 502 grade oil.. the exact spec im not sure, as im still servicing it at a garage (independant skoda dealer). However, i think im going to go for 504 and variable servicing this time around.

in general though, is around 104 degrees normal? what have you had your vrs up to mate? does it go past 110 degrees if youre pushing on?

ive never had an oil temp readout before, only coolant.

I never exceed 56mph.

oil never reaches 90 Degrees C,

Cheapest oil i can find in the engine,

Water Wetter in the Coolant,

and run the engine on only 3 cylinders as Skoda designed,  Saves loads of fuel being transported on the back of a AA Recovery Truck.

haa. oh thanks George, for such a very useful response ;)

do you not watch your oil temp? id of thought you of all people would be keeping an eye on it?

I rarely see mine touch 100 degrees or beyond. Yours should be fine if all the mechanisms to help keep it cool are in place and working :)
