heater controls

Featured Replies

what a time of year to have the heater play up !! Does anyone technical know if the temperature control (left hand **** I think) is an electrical control (thermostat) or does it operate a cable that controls a flap which lets in more warm air. Mine seems to have developed a mind of it's own. I can have it full on (engine hot after ten miles) and one day it blows amazingly hot air. yesterday and today I cant get more than likle warm out of it full on ! Without warning it suddendly blew real cold air. A fiddle with the control got some warm then cold, then hotter then cold without touching the control. Any ideas?? Do I need a new thermostatic control for the heater? Is it a matter of adjustment of a cable?

The thermostat controls a motor which adjusts the hot/cold air flap. If you can get it on a VAG-COM/diagnostic rig you should be able to reset it, and if not find out which part has logged a fault :D

My vrs is doing the same, mentioned it to the dealer and was told that the complete dash had to come out, motors to replace etc. etc. think i will live with it for now.
