12V Switched or Radio-On power source from Symphony Head Unit?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I'm installing a Connects2 adapter into the CD changer port on the back of my SkodaAudio Symphony head unit. While I'm at it, I'd like to install a 12V-to-5V USB step down so that I can add a USB charging port to the dash.

Is there anywhere that I can get the 12V for this at or near the head-unit/Connects2? Ideally, I'd like it to only have power on radio on, but I'm happy to settle for a feed that only comes on with the ignition.

I don't want to use the permanent live of the head-unit, as I could accidentally leave something plugged into the USB overnight, and also the converter will probably draw power and shed as heat even when not having anything plugged in (I'm guessing, haven't yet tested).

Thoughts?

Found it, the wire that's brown with red stripe on connector A to the head unit is switched with the ignition.
