Now battery has been charged it will turn over and start however....

The car will not start with intercooler / airbox pipe on.. but it will start will them off.

Will not rev even when started up.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

since they were obviously off has it ingested something like a rag  wouldn't be the first time

You can only start from scratch and go over everything you removed/ replaced, apart from the new battery itself.

Including all rubber pipes, intercooler pipes and fittings electrical or otherwise, etc..etc..

The fact that it won't rev etc.. Not a possible turbo failure? No exhaust gasses coming out

first you need to start it with the bits attached then wonder why it wont rev   ---exhaust back pressure?

Did your garage scan it, and more importantly did they find the cause of the "electrical smell". Are any sensors being disconnected when the induction system is removed. If there are no exhaust gasses, may be worth unbolting exhaust as close to turbo as possible, maybe the cat has collapsed - removing the induction pipework will stop the extra pressure and may just allow it to run. Assume if there are no gasses, its very quiet. If the exhaust is blocked, the gases would have no-where to go so may overheat the system leading to the "smell".

I am sending this link onto garage so thanks for all your advise thus far. Dreading it being the turbo. Can't get my head around why it won't rev

Say it like it is lol

Just thought it was better to say it :D

If it starts with a boost pipe off, but won't with it on, you have turbo problems.
