Pure DAB Radio doesn't turn on with accessories/radio

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone else has the Pure Highway DAB radio fitted - i've got it along with the Nav system in my Monte Carlo. We got the dealer to fit it when we purchased the car. I've found it great, good signal with the stick on aerial.

The only problem is that it only turns on with the engine, and turning the engine off always turns it off. This is a bit annoying as the radio remains powered so you get a blast of static if you leave the key in the accessories on (I?) position. Is this normal, or has the dealer perhaps connected it to the wrong power cable?

Thanks,

Josh

Not got that at all but does sound "Iffy"!  I know my standard system on my older Fabia 2 stays on if I turn the key off but then goes off if I remove the key. If I then press the "ON" button, it will then play for an hour and shut down after the to preserve the battery.

I would most definitely question it with the dealer though as it may be mis-wired. Cant see why the music stops just as you turn the key off, after all, you could be stopped somewhere with the key still on, don't want your hair clinging to the roof lining!

Radio is permanently powered but switched using the vehicles CANbus.  The dealer has probably connected the Pure to a switched supply which will only be active with the key in position II.  The only solution is a CANbus power controller like this http://www.co-star.co.uk/prod/3737/can-bus-power-12v-ignition-switched-output-interface-canm8.html or this http://www.bassjunkies.com/car-audio-dab/ipod-iphone-solutions/aux-adaptors/connects2-igni-gen and possibly a relay depending on how much current the Pure draws.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check if they have made a mistake. If that's how it's "supposed" to work, the CANbus relay should sort it nicely, i'll get one of those.
