Samsung D600?

Featured Replies

Hi, anyone got a Sumsung D600 mobile phone?

I am currently using both a nokia 6230 and a Samsung D500, I chop and change when I get bored.

I want to know if you can chose your own message alert tones on the D600? you can on the nokia but the D500 only lets you use the message tones in the phone. i'd like to be able to use mp3's and stuff as message tones as well as ring tones as you can with nokias.

Been considering getting the D600 on 02 online as it seems the only decent phone they have at present!!

Cheers.

It's a hard life

John.......

having just switched to O2 with the D600.........I can now confirm you CANNOT change the message tones beyond the stock tones present. Which are lame.

You can however change the call ringtone to any file you choose to upload to the phone.......

So while i've lost Homer Simpson saying "D'OH" 32 times for my sms tone, I've still got the Star Wars Imperial march for calls.......

Hopefully, someone will find a firmware or hack to the Samsung soon enough.

TBH, i'm using the phone mainly as an MP3 player and camera (72meg onboard, 512mb card added). the screen is GORGEOUS.

I can forgive it the SMS tone oversight for these things.....

and as my contract was up, i couldn't be bothered to wait for the V3 Razr replacement, which does allow for SMS mp3 tones, and includes a memory slot too. If the V3i had been on the market, I'd have taken that instead.

I've just got a blackberry 7100t on t-mobile - trying to keep track of emails and tasks / contacts was becoming a pain.

Was previously using a HP PDA and D500 - and whilst the blackberry does all the things I need - and very well too (so far) I am suprised how much a miss being able to chose from any mp3 I might have been foolish enough to have on my PC - the tones on the blackberry are so lame I've had to resort to a classic "Ring Ring" tone !!!! :orb_phone

One of my colleagues has just got the D600 - and I must admit the screen and camera are fantastic.

Ok cheers guys, I'm starting to get fed up waiting for 02 online to release some decenct handsets.

I personaly dont like the V3 Razr, one of my mates has one and I just dont like the way it works, I'd have the 6230i but i've already got a 6230 and its not different enough.

The D500 is a nice phone, and having tinkered briefly with a D600 it did seem a very nice phone but the lack of personal sms tones would frustrate me! the only other thing I dont like about the Samsung (D500 anyway) is that the menus aren't consistant, i.e. to delete a text '3' might be the shortcut key but to delete a sound it might be '7' so no consistency.

Guess i'll just have to keep waiting for either of the 2 nokias on the coming soon page!!

Don't rate Samsung mobiles at all.

I've got a D600 and i like it :)

It's not quite as intuitive as my old Nokia but then no phone is ever going to beat a Nokia in terms of an intuitive interface! I just find Nokia phones so boooooring! I would say that the D600 probably is the best Samsung front end so far and you can pick it up and use it straight away without almost deleting contacts like you do when pick up and Sony for the first time ;)

I have a D600 and I love it.

Haven't had a Nokia for a while as, although easy to use, I find them "flakey". Of the 4 Nokias I've had over the years, the first I had 6 replacements in 12 months, the second I had 9 replacements in 14 months, the third was OK, I only had 4 replacements in a year :D and the last one I had 5 replacements in the year. Guess you could say I'm not impressed with Nokias :D

Blimey thats a lot of nokias!!

I've been using Nokias for years, with the occasional dissapointing switch to another manufacturer but always end up back with Nokia, I've only ever had 1 faulty Nokia replaced (6600) and 1 Ericcson (before they were Sony Ericcson).
