Radio problems

Featured Replies

In trying to chase down a buzz in the dash last night, I pushed on the underside of the radio (through the holes in the cubby hole under the radio) and the radio cut out, well actually it was the CD. Just the sound, lights/display stayed on cd carried on playing from what I can tell. Then after a couple of seconds the sound came back.

Obviously the answer is don't push there again but should I be looking at taking the car in under warrenty ?

yeah why not if it is under warrenty and you have a bit of time spare take it in it can only help.

Sounds like you made the cd skip.

I had a buzzing noise that I thought was coming from the ashtray assembly in my Octy. It turned out to be the silver button on the handbrake lever. Of course I only found this after dismantling half the dashboard :o

If CD continues to run but no sound suggests to me that the connector for the speakers may be loose/not fully latched. Dealer should be able to sort that out. What happens when you press/tap the facia of the radio? Does it do the same?

Done some more investigations. Tapping / pushing on the front of the HU and surrounding are have no effect. The sound only cuts out when the CD is playing, so I guess it is something to do with the connection to the multichanger in the boot.

I might try an get the VAG-Com out tonight and see if there is a fault code.
