I had just phoned James to find the parked in the grass,( for over 2 years,& grass literally growing up round her) SDP Van had passed the test 1st time, all she needed  was a wash, a new battery, & a replacement seal to the steering box.

Not even any electrical gremlins or bulbs needed.

I left my desk to drive to the Post Office to tax the SDP, which had been SORNED..

Bloody Octavia WOULD NOT start, the battery, quite out of the blue, was completely knackered.

Having started the car in virtually sub-zero conditiions this morning after sitting overnight.

At least this happened at work with a handy mechanic handy.

NOT tomorrow on our regular weekly outing with Senior Management and my 84 year old mother.

Cold will kill a battery off if it's nearing the end of it's life. 

 

Had had it a couple of times in the past with previous vw cars. Always on frosty cold mornings!

In conscience I knew the battery was getting  fractionally lazy, in that a few times the car would not start "first kick", and I did wonder?, plus Mulhollands had recently stated it needed replacement.

But always before there was a gradual run-down, with the car getting progressively harder to start.

Not this time!
