Farewell Octavia

Featured Replies

Well, after 11 months and 20K miles in the VRs DSG hatch the time has come for me to part. A job change has meant my time with the Octy has come to an end, It will be missed.

  • Likes: Virtually everything, nothing rattled or went wrong or fell off or needed fixing, the DSG gearbox was fautless in my 150 mile commute from Chippenham to Slough each day in terrible traffic.
  • The Satnav worked a treat and most of the time got the traffic jam information perfect
  • HUGE boot
  • Bonkers engine and chassis
  • Bonkers engine and chassis
  • Bonkers engine and chassis (YES I do need to state this three times, it really is that good)

  • Dislikes: The hill hold on an auto? just another way to slow down parking on an incline
  • Needed two post codes to park
  • I missed a manual gearbox for its precision vehicle placement. OK I just dind't completely gel with the DSG in normal driving bit it was brilliant for everything else
  • Very few chances to exploit the potential of the VRs lunacy

OK, so now I have  Fabia III SEL 110 manual petrol, some money in the bank but the Octy will be missed.

Hairball

Got an Mk2 FL (2nd one in 6 years) that's due for renewal next April and contemplating a Mk3 but in DSG form as have resisted on previous attempts.

Admittedly there are a few other's like the Mazda 6, Passat and even a Mundano that have stepped up their game in recent times but the Octy manages to stay one step ahead in the Price, performance and fun stakes!

Enjoy the Fabia!
