Fitting cruise control indicator stalk

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a 2013 Octavia III (late 2013) vRS TDi. It came without cruise control but I'd like to fit it (stops me speeding without realising!). I understand it needs a replacement stalk and reprogramming. Does anyone know the part number? And I presume most VAG specialists will be able to fit and reprogram it?

Thanks

Andy

I believe it is purchased as a dealer accessory.....you get the new stalk cluster (the left and right hand stalks are hard-attached to a slip ring arrangement so it all has to be replaced)....the coding to install comes on an SD card....I gather once the stalks are fitted the dealer connects the car up to VAS with the SD card installed in one of the available slots on the infotainmemt and it does the rest.

Something to be aware of....if you have a multi function wheel (as you would expect on a vRS)....make sure the dealer sources the correct stalk part that doesnt have the trip computer buttons on the wiper stalk.....its not a big deal...the buttons simply wont work but its neater and more OEM if they fit the right set.

Some guys in here have had it done and have had the wrong stalk set supplied...some have lived with it others asked for them to be changed for the right ones.....I am sure those who have had it done can advise....particularly around the correct stalk set part no.

That's perfect thank you! Not a £25 part like the old Octi! Damn :( . I can yern from that post (sorry I somehow didn't find it by searching before) that I need to go to the dealer and it will cost me around £300-£375, and the part numbers are 5E0054690 and 5E0054690A? My current car (only bought it yesterday so forgive ignorance!) has no trip reset button on the right stick, has a multi function steering wheel and a "0.0 / SET" button in front of the dials. Do I need the 5E0054690 or 5E0054690A part number? I am the kind of person that having a button that didn't do anything would drive me mad! So I'd like to get it correct.

My stalks before I had cruise had no trip button but since having cruise fitted, the wiper stalk now has a trip button but does not function/work, it now matches the cruise stalk on the right hand side, my part number on my box is 5E0 054 690 A but also says on box, for multifunction steering wheel so at a guess I would say that seeing you don't want the trip button on the wiper stalks that actually do nothing then you would need part no: 5E0 054 690 but don't hold me to that ;)

Cheers thanks! I might get them to check at the dealer first, unless anyone has tried the one without the 'A'!
