spare wheel on octavia scout

Featured Replies

Hi

Picking up a second hand Scout tomorrow which comes without a spare wheel and only tyre  sealant kit. The car will have 17" wheels and 225/50 tyres.

Is it possible for me to use the spare wheel I have on my current Octavia which is a never used 205/55 R16 91V tyre on a 16x 6.5J H2 ET50 rim?

Also I'm assuming that since the car does not come with a spare that it will not have a spare fitting kit - can I use the one out of my standard Octavia hatch?

I see that skodashop sell different fitting kits for the standard Octy and the L&K, VRS and Scout - does anybody kow the difference?

They also seem to sell a different spare wheel e.g. ? "OCTAVIA SPARE WHEEL VRS L&K SCOUT 2004-2013 -  SPARE WHEEL WITH 195/65R15 TYRE CAN BE USED WITH 205/55/16 WHEELS"

I will supply the part exchnage Octavia hatch with a 16" space saver taken from a Superb - assume this is ok?

Many thanks to people who have helped me out wth answers in the past as I've asked quite a few questions on here now about this car exchnage :-)

Cheers

A Scout has four-wheel drive and the rolling circumference of all tyres must be approximately the same. I have read that max. difference is 4% to avoid damage to the Haldex. The difference between the tyres in question is approx. that. Since the spare wheel never has been used, and the tyres on the car most probably is worn the difference will decrease.

If this matters using a spare wheel for short distances and low speeds in an emergency situation, I don't know. But this is something to consider.

205/55/R16 on 16x 6.5J H2 ET50 was the OEM spare when I had my Mk2 Scout so should be fine.  Don't know about the different kits but should be easy enough to check if the one you have will fit.

My Scout  came with  a factory spare steel 205/55/R16, even thought the other four alloys on the car are 17", so that's standard.
