Changing main driver halfway through the year - NCB

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me with a question about NCB. I've been driving my mums car for the past 8 months or so, where I was a named driver for the first few months when I didn't drive much. I since moved away but carried on borrowing the car, so was changed to main driver for the rest of that 8 months. I'm now in the process of buying my own car so I can return the car to my parents, but instead of taking out a new policy I will just be changing the car on the policy to the new car (the car I'm borrowing is being taken off the road). The thing I'm wondering is, will I have accrued a years no claims bonus when the policy is due for renewal? Or will my mum (who is the policy holder) have accrued the years no claims? Or will neither of us have accrued the NCB, as neither of us have been the main driver for the entire year?

Thanks in advance,

Toby

I think the only person that can answer that is the company you're insured with?

Most likely, I was just hoping someone else might have experienced something similar. I'm with Admiral, and their website says something about named driver NCB, but I'm not sure that other insurers would accept that?
