Dash fusebox access

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone have a clue to how you painlessly gain access to the rear of the dashboard fuse box? I need to tap into a 12v power source for a RVC. I know how to drop the lower dash beneath the steering column, incidentally.

Yes, I have read the guides for the Golf, but the Octavia is more awkward in the fact that the top and bottom mounting screw heads are (stupidly) partially obscured by a plastic dash crossmember.

Otherwise I'm, stuck with the less than ideal option of going the piggy back fuse holder route.

Cheers!

Assuming it's the same as my FL then it's not a fun task to do it without removing the screws...

They are both attached to the main body of the fuse box so the rear cover should unclip and pull away. Once that's out the way the pink/purple piece should slide by a few mm to allow fitting of new connectors.

It's possible to get to both screws. There is a hole solely for the purpose of accessing the top screw but it needs a proper torx driver rather than a multi-driver with an extension and a torx bit. I thought the bottom should have clear access if I remember correctly?

I would definitely suggest the second way if possible!

Those holes looked miles out of alignment with the screw heads when I last looked. The car has had the dash out previously to rectify a rattle, though.

Coupled with the fact of having to purchase a new fuse lead, it all sounds like too much of a rigmarole for my liking.

Add on fuse option it is, then!

Thanks
