First proper wash for the VRS

Featured Replies

Managed to spend a couple of hours on the car today. Started off with KKD snowboarding thanks to some recommendations on here, love the stuff now! One bucket wash but I'm going to remedy that this week with a couple of new buckets :) Then it was a coat of Power Maxed Winter Coat spread using my new WO-WO drying towel, very impressed with it given the size.

Wheels were sealed with a sample of PM sealant, type coated with Poor boys something or other :) and glass sealed with PM Rain Off.

Had a few issues with what looked like water spots but only appeared after I used the PM Winter coat, you can just seem them in the bottom left of this photo. Managed to remove most of them with some QD but never had this before using the Winter coat, any ideas?

Was going to give it a coat of the PM Winter wax but didn't, partly because I was pushing my luck with the missus and partly because I'm always a bit nervous when waxing it :(

Any tips or changes to anything I'd love to hear them as I'm new to this compared with the rest of you...

That looks excellent buddy!!

No need to be nervous when applying sealants and waxes. It's really trial and error. I've got it wrong in the past but a quick going over with something like Autoglym Super Resin Polish and you can start again. I've heard winter coat is simple to apply so fill your boots buddy.

As a wash routine, you'll have it nailed down when you get ypur second bucket. So enjoy the fruits of your labour brother.

Its when you get to giving it a spruce up when the fun and antics begin!

Thanks for sharing and well done. Always love these posts!

As Hunty says - top job and thanks for sharing with the photos and write-up.

Glad you like the KKD Blizzard; one of my favourites for sure.

I have the Wo-Wo wheel mitt and it performs well; i didnt know about the drying towel.

Heard good things about Wintercoat; but similar to KKD Purity-X

which i have been using for the last 12-15months already - with great results.

So i know how good it can be in terms of flexibility of application.

Good to see you are enjoying your detailing Andy

Im sure she spends more time shopping than you do detailing, although for me its the other way round!  :nerd:   great job!

Car looks great

Great work

Winter Coat must be removed fairly quickly or it can leave residues behind

Power Maxed recommend a second wipe with a dry MY cloth

If any residue/spotting remains, a light spray of diluted WC (40:1) and buffed off immediately will rectify it

Thanks for the comments, glad I didn't do anything too drastically wrong. I think I left the Winter coat on for too long as Chris said.

Unfortunately she doesn't shop that much or spend much in general so I've not got much leverage there :(
