Anyone used a Bluetooth transmitter for TV?

Featured Replies

My aged Dad's hearing is not what it once was and in order for him to hear the TV, he has to have it on quite loud - a bit too loud for my Mum if she's watching as well.

I've hooked the TV up to their hifi (via optical cable) so the sound comes from both the TV speaker and the hifi, so I'm wondering about getting a Bluetooth transmitter and hooking it up to the hifi and then getting a pair of Bluetooth headphones that my Dad could wear. He'd then hear the sound over the headphones and my Mum could hear the sound from the TV speaker.

What I'm not sure about is how good these Bluetooth transmitters are when it comes to syncing with the TV sound? I believe I'd need one with low latency that supports aptX...but even with that, would the sound coming through the headphones be well enough in sync with the TV to make it watchable? Does anyone have any experience of using such a transmitter?

Thanks...

How about a soundbar. Mine has totally transformed the sound of my tv.

Audio delay might be adjustable on the headphones

Just get a set of standard wireless headphones, they are usually analogue and as such have zero latency.

I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as poss and from what I can tell, non-Bluetooth wireless transmitters seem to be a lot more expensive than Bluetooth ones.

Unless I've been looking in the wrong place...?

I've got some phillips infared ones i'd part with for a small fee

I bought them when i wanted to keep gaming while my wife was going her dissertation.

have sat unused for many a year ever since.

plug the sender in to the wall,

plug the aux into the hi-fi

put batteries in the headphones

turn on the headphones

bish bosh bash your dad can claim he never heard mum's instructions with a valid reason

philips-shc2000-10-rechargeable-infrared
