Columbus MIB Woes (moved)

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is a duplicate post. I originally put it in the ICE/Nav section but it may be better off in the Octavia 3 section.

I have an MIB Columbus fitted to my 2013 Combi Elegance and I am having a lot of trouble with the radio, most of the problems are with the DAB part. For information the software/hardware is as follows:

The scenario is that I will start the car after a fairly long time, say overnight, DAB will be fine, I select a station, then if I get the Columbus to do something else, such as navigate, or if I change to another source, such as SD card and then try to go back to the DAB radio, the screen I am presented with frequently look like this:

and as you can see, there are no saved presets and there is no acknowledgement of the existence of DAB at all:

If I then reset the Columbus by holding the power button for 15 seconds, the DAB is "re-discovered", albeit I cannot get the DAB presets to accept logos any more (it used to have them)

The FM presets have now come back to life and the logos do stick to the FM presets:

I am at a loss as to to what to do. I have performed a Factory reset on the Radio section of setup, and I am wondering whether I should do a Factory reset on the System. What would I gain and what would I lose? Can anyone tell me if the firmware is up to date? As a last resort I will have to take it back to the dealer before the 3 year warranty expires, although I am not that confident in them.

Any advice or suggestions would be very gratefully received. Thanks.

That firmware must be ancient.

I think 0390 is the newest for the mib1 Columbus.

0111 is very old firmware, approximately June 2013.

If you are feeling brave or confident enough to perform firmware upgrades I have the 0202 and 0390 firmwares which will bring you up to date.

PM me if you are interested, it is a fairly simple procedure.

I had the same DAB problem.  After the Columbus was updated with later firmware, I think 0390, the problem has not reoccurred.

Many thanks to andyvee for helping me to bring my Columbus up to date. Hopefully my problems will now be resolved.
