o/s rear door won't open

Featured Replies

my drivers side rear door won't open anymore...the button is always down unless i use the inside handle to raise it but even then,it won't stay up or release the door...it just drops the button down again when i release the inner handle. central locking works the other doors fine including the boot/tailgate but has no effect on this door...where do i start looking...any ideas please? it's a 51 plate octavia.

Door lock mechanism is goosed - dead bolt has dropped off the end of its screw and wont retract.

quite common - need to get the door card off and cut open the top of the mech and wind the gear manually until the slider comes back. Then, get the mchanism out and a new one (30quid odd on ebay for pattern) in.

To get your door card off - open the 2 screws you can get to at the bottom of the door, remove the speaker from beside the door handle. Take the cover off the front of the door handle and remove the 2 bolts holding that in. Take out the seat base, then grab the door pocket at each end and pull hard and fast. Whole thing "should" come off with the retainer clips still attached.

Theres a couple of very good guides in the tech section for the rest -

Bowders1 has one for front door which will work on rear too. And robclubley has a guide on getting into the door but when its not locked on
