Can anybody help me i am trying to replace a front side light bulb.Can anyone explain how to do it .

Take the headlight out as detailed in the owner's manual. Take the cover off the back by pulling back the 2 clips. You will see the side light holder inside the back although you may need a pair of long nose pliers to reach and turn the lampholder before removing it as it's sort of in behind other components. If you have xenons then be careful as there are high voltages in there.

That's overdramatising it a bit. The residual voltage is similar to that in a TV that's been unplugged so if you are really unlucky you might get a right dig but it's not likely to do any damage except maybe to your ego. Manufacturers like to cover themselves by giving the impression that it might kill you just in case you have a pacemaker or something.

You may damage your car though if you get it wrong. that is a good point.

Overdramatising ????? -- you have obviously not seen the consequences of making a mitake with Xenon -- I have, the damage done to the car involved the edge of the wing being bowed out -- the damage to the person working on it was a quite nasty burn.

If you do want to work on them yourself -- Make sure the battery is disconnected and left for a while, this way you minimise the risk, obviously common sense items prevail as well - like not poking around inside the unit with metal objects.

I should also add that thanlfully the cases of mistakes are very few and far between - the manufacterers are trying to do as much as they can to make them safe,they all carry warning stickers - so nobody should be able to say "I didnt know!"

Like I said 'unplug it'. Like you said 'leave it a while'.

It is not physically possible to service any type of headlights in an OctyII without hurting yourself unless you remove them as it say's in the owner's manual but i've already covered that. Personally I take the whole unit in to the kitchen table and work on it there with a decent lamp.

If you are not technically minded or can't even get the headlights out, best visit the dealer.

I agree - a certain level of technical competance is required,if your not happy to remove the headlight - you shouldn't attempt it.

Better safe than sorry.

No, Xenons (dipped) are fine. I decided to upgrade the Main Beam & side light bulbs 'cos they look 'yellowish' and that's when I got the bad news.

Form before function in the design team eh ? You'd think SOME consideration would be given to replacing bulbs yourself.
