Another alloys +tyres question

Featured Replies

Tried this on the tech section but no luck so I'll try here as well!

Just bought some new 15" (Skoda OE) alloys off ebay. Call me stupid but does anyone know If I'll need different wheel bolts or are they the same for steels and alloys?

Also if I buy lock bolts will any 5 stud VAG group set do the trick?

And lastly (I promise) could I get 205/50's on a 6J wheel or is 195 my maximum.

Cheers,

Snailrox

You probably got the ones I used to have.

Nuts and bolts are the same for all Skodas (IIRC), at least they are for the Octavia and the Fabia.

You can put 205/50s but it won't handle as well on the road given the softer side wall, stick with 195/50s, they are MUCH better :) If you can get your hands on 195/45 tyres, that's even better.

Cheers for that. I'll probably stick to the 195's then. Cheaper anyway I guess -The offsets are et43 so I'm hoping they'll fill the arches a bit more anyway.

My next step will hopefully be Eibach springs so I'll probably keep with the 195/50ratio this time around until I know how hard the ride will be!

Thanks again,

It gets hard. Trust me ;)

I had a 328i with sports springs and 235/45 R17s on it before. That was enough to want to avoid even little holes in the road ( )- it wouldn't be as hard as all that would it?
