Nah. Not many do these days it seems.

i have heard they may be coming back though.

I've seen and know one person that uses one. He has a 5 year old Focus ST.

Seems nobody bothers these days. I'd forgotten they existed!

Hot wiring is as easy as it was in the 80's/90's i guess.

However, theres other means these days..

Stealing the keys seems favourite. No doubt youd put your steering lock key in the same place?

Not too sure anybodys bothered about a fairly low end car like a Fabia anyway. Youd get a GTR, RS6 or something if you were bothering, wouldnt you? stolen to order n all that

You're right Olly, most cars are stolen to order nowadays and there is a buyer lined up long before the car is even sourced. Keys are the choice now, break into the house and lift the key, job done. Cheeky robbing ******s have been known to fill the car with your gear too! That's why I leave my keys by the front door, make it easy for them, I don't want someone crashing round my house searching, not that I think someone would bother with a low end car like mine.

I remember using a steering lock when I first passed my test, then I moved on to the handbrake/gear stick lock. That was after removing the dizy cap lol, can't do that anymore! Don't think I would bother with a lock again, if someone wants the car they are going to take it, steering locks just deter petty thieves IMO

Haha, I did wonder when you said that. The compulsory introduction of immobilisers kind of stopped the need for steering locks long ago. Thats why they really just want the keys these days.

You been watching gone on 60seconds?

Do you remember on the Peugeot 405 when it had a number panel on the centre console instead of an immobiliser chip?

I do remember somebody with such software (im not naming names here, obviously) when questioned about trust with somebodys key, saying basically,' why worry about giving you my key? i can get into it without it with the software ive got, if i wanted to'. However, i dno if they could drive it off or not. I dont ask questions.. haha.
