Door won't open.

Featured Replies

Hi, hoping someone can help me.My o/s/r door on my Vrs estate Doesn't unlock on the key n pulling the inside latch just pops the pin up (door still won't open) let go of inside latch n pin pops back down again. Just wondering whether this has happened to anyone else? Could it be a deadlock? Also if I have to cut the door open/off, does a hatchback door fit the estate as have found 1 in similar colour. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers, Garry

Sounds like a regular loom/solenoid problem. Good news is that you don't need a new door, just a new door card, but the bad news is that you may have to destroy the door card if the door won't unlock on any of the plip, key or interior master unlock button.

Minor error correction.

Hi, welcome to Briskoda.

If you look at Group1rs's thread here - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/370561-wrc-66100-and-88100/page-7 look at post #208, you will see that you might not have to destroy the card if you are lucky and can get the door seal out of the way first for access.

If you look at this thread - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/314705-octavia-mk1-door-lock-failed-deadlocked/, you may not have to destroy the lock to release it, just make a hole in the case. I have done this method myself twice now for my inlaws, and if you are careful it works well. There is also the possibility that you may just have lost power to the lock because of the loom , so you may have some luck supplying 12v to the loom, once you have the door card off.

Also slapping the door hard by the door handle on the outside while using the remote can sometimes shock the lock free - worth a try and is free. Just watch you aren't wearing rings or watches to total your paintwork first.

Hope it helps,

Phil

You can get the card off the inside with door closed - get the 2 bottom screws our with seat base popped out of the way. Then the door handle cover and speaker as per whats in above threads. Then... pull hard fast and even on the door pocket and if your lucky wont even break a clip
