MK2 Octavia Cr TDI VRS - water shorting out central locking system

Featured Replies

I was due to collect my 2010 octy today but it's been postposoned following a lack of being able to lock the car by fob or key due to a short caused by water ingress on the drivers door.

D M Keith have known about sorting out this issue for a week. They have tried to repair it but it's not worked and they have only just found out today when moving it out for my collection.

Am I in my rights to request that a brand new locking circuit unit is fitted and that ingress measures are put in place (plastic film) to reassure me or should I pull the sale?

Any advise welcomed.

Having dealt with DMKeith refuse the car until rectified or find another.

I wouldn't worry.

Just ask them to call you when it is fixed.

If you are feeling cheeky then play the inconvenience card (journey times, fuel, time off work, missing appointments etc.) and try to blag a free or reduced price service.

Thanks for replies. Decided I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I hold all the cards at this point and I'm in a good postion to barter for reduced service costs etc.

Wire loom / connector replaced by dm keith on drivers door for the issue with water damage on original locking connection. I got the car on Tuesday evening. So far I love it. Great car to drive.
