Help new Octavia owner!

Featured Replies

In sure this has been asked so many time before but I have just brought myself a petrol Octavia vrs on a 2006, and I have noticed that when the car is warm it's seems to create a quite knocking noise which seems to be on the left side of the engine when looking under the bonnet there is also some ticking noises but think that is normal it just seems strange that it's only when it's warmed up? It's had every service when needed and the timing belt changed every time it's needed it, is it just normal for theses engines to sound like this when the bonnet is closed you can't really hear it

Any help would be appreciated

If your car has a DMF and by the "left side of the engine", you mean 'near side', and the noise is from the underside, then I would guess the DMF is the issue.

Someone else will no doubt give a more definitive answer though.

Anyone have any ideas on this I have had another listen and it seems to be at the back of the engine but cam belt side so drivers side I have seen lots of people suggesting fuel pump problems but it really doesn't sound that side it's strange how it is fine until it warms up, could it be the timing out slightly as it has had the timing belt changed twice before I brought the car?

Many thanks

I cannot advise any further other than if it runs fine and not bothering you when the bonnet is closed, forget it.

My A4 is perfect, apart from a slight tapping noise (fuel pump I believe) but only noticeable when standing besides the engine.

Do not worry about it.
