Stereo part of Maxi-Dot stopped working

Featured Replies

Just before the holidays my maxi dot for displaying the track number / radio station and stereo volume stopped working on my maxi dot display.

I wondered if anyone had any suggestions or had come across this before?

The rest of the Maxi Dot display works fine, the full MFD section of the display, trip, fuel warning light, and temperature all work ok.

Do you have nav.. Does that work on the Maxidot?

No nav on mine. I wonder if its stereo related though. I just wondered if anyone had seen the problem before.

Its under warranty, though previous discussions about stereo's and Skoda warranties often lead to "it not being covered"

Not sure mate. Mines done it before, but if i restart the stereo, it comes back again.

Mine did it occasionally when the Bluetooth was playing up but it also froze on the Amundsen screen too.

Mine seems to have lost it completely. I am half tempted to upgrade the stereo in the spring anyway, as I've technically been look at a Dance unit for the past 4 years (was the same stereo in my last Fabia).

Maybe wants reactivating on VCDS? Reminding its there? Haha.

Ah upgrading the stereo is a brill idea. Ive never looked back (:

You dont have to lose the Maxidot and MFSW functions either, even with some aftermarket units.

Thanks fabiamk2SE  I need to get logged on with VAG COM to see whats going on, just haven't had a lot of time to do it recently.

I have been debating about a head units for a bit. Any that you would recommend?

Mine is one of the last MK2 Pre Face Lift models - 59 reg. Not sure if this makes a difference with the connections.

Is there a fuse under the bonnet for the radio? One that gives a permanent feed to keep the stored stations etc? Try pulling it to interrupt the power supply and force it to restart itself, that might do it? Just a guess though.

No worries. Hope it all works out (:

Hmm. Depends on your budget. Im running a Zenec ZE-2015 atm. Looks fairly oem, but packed full of stuff.

Dont think connections are a problem tbh.

I do have a DAB Columbus for sale, if youre interested haha.

Haa. I bought freedom again last weekend. I think the forums on an up again. Somebody might of had a talking to, i dont know.

Have you tried turning it off and back on again? :p   Seriously though, the CECM on mine occasionally forgets things and disconnecting the battery for a few minutes makes it remember. I have VCDS and it shows everything is correct but this trick has solved things like windows forgetting they should go back up on a single touch and that the rear doors should unlock.  If it did it more frequently I'd buy a newer CECM but it doesn't really justify spending £150+
